This IMO hosted special meeting brought together all of the mathematical and computational cancer modelers within both the Integrative Cancer Biology Program (ICBP) and Physical Science Oncology Centers (PSOC) and was held in Tampa, FL on February 26-28, 2015.
“The San Diego Pain Summit hosts a series of conferences and continuing education classes to introduce concepts, treatment planning, and techniques steeped in science-based medicine and modern pain neurophysiology. These conferences and classes are for physical therapists, physicians, massage therapists, chiropractors, and athletic trainers.”
“The SIAM CSE conference seeks to enable in-depth technical discussions on a wide variety of major computational efforts on large-scale problems in science and engineering, foster the interdisciplinary culture required to meet these large-scale challenges, and promote the training of the next generation of computational scientists.”
The NICAR-2015 conference held 5-8 March 2015 in Atlanta, GA.
“The Computer-Assisted Reporting Conference offers something for everyone, from beginners to those on the cutting edge of digital reporting. We'll offer everything from the basics on using spreadsheets, databases and online mapping to data visualization, data science and the latest technological advances. You'll come away with, story ideas, plenty of inspiration and tools to help you overcome typical data hurdles. Learn from the best in the business in panel discussions and during hands-on training sessions.”
“Cancer: The Emperor of All Maladies examines cancer with a cellular biologist’s precision, a historian’s perspective and a biographer’s passion. The series artfully weaves three different films in one: a riveting history documentary; an engrossing and intimate vérité film; and a scientific and investigative report.”
Science Writers 2015 was a meeting for science writers, by science writers. Held in Cambridge, MA, 9-13 Oct, there were professional development workshops created by the National Association of Science Writers (NASW), briefings on scientific research presented by the Council for the Advancement of Science Writing (CASW), and lab tours and science field trips organized by Knight Science Journalism at MIT.
The San Diego Pain Summit is a multi-disciplinary event for physical therapists, physicians, osteopaths, chiropractors, massage therapists, and other healthcare professionals who want to learn how to apply current models of pain science into clinical practice. Attendees will walk away with a wealth of pain science research knowledge, theoretical frameworks, and clinical applications without being dependent on a specific modality or treatment protocol.
In recent years, the RMTBC has hosted several extremely successful conferences with attendees and speakers alike lauding the importance and relativity of these meetings. This track record of delivering and going well beyond expectations includes the sold out 3rd International Fascial Research Congress hosted in 2012 and a Pain Management Conference in 2014. The 2016 Manual Therapy Conference continues this commitment of presenting the very latest and best research and information possible.
The 2016 International Massage Therapy Research Conference (IMTRC) took place 12-15 May at the Renaissance® Seattle Hotel in Seattle, Washington. This was the Massage Therapy Foundation's fourth research conference, bringing together massage and manual therapy practitioners, educators, CIM researchers, and allied health professionals.
ScienceWriters 2016 was a meeting for science writers, by science writers. The conference included professional development workshops developed by the National Association of Science Writers, briefings on scientific research presented by the Council for the Advancement of Science Writing, and lab tours and science field trips organized by a consortium of San Antonio's scientific community led by the Texas Biomedical Research Institute and BioBridge Global. The meeting was held at the beautiful Omni La Mansión del Rio in downtown San Antonio.

The third annual San Diego Pain Summit was dedicated to helping physical and manual therapists apply pain science into clinical practice. The Summit was an entire week of workshops that included two days of conference presentations. As with the prior two years, the 2017 Summit included multiple opportunities to network and socialize.
For those interested but unable to attend, videos of presentations are available. Video purchases help to ensure that a SDPS 2018 will be held and to secure the venue.
“The overall conference theme was Mathematics and Health. Mathematical and computational methods have long played a key role in predicting and controlling the spread of infectious disease, are becoming increasingly important in understanding the physiology underlying both disease and health, and are now starting to make sense of the health of ecosystems and the resulting effects on humans and other animals. This conference provided a cross-disciplinary forum for catalyzing mathematical and computational research at precisely these points of synergy.”
“The Arthur M. Sackler Colloquia on the Science of Science Communication began in 2012 with an effort to survey the state of the art of empirical social science research in science communication and focused on the communication dynamics surrounding issues in science, engineering, and medicine. The second colloquium highlighted the particular challenges with communicating about science that involves controversy, and was an important impetus for the consensus study report Communicating Science Effectively: A Research Agenda. Evolving from past colloquia, this third colloquium will focus on the consensus study as a framework for advancing both research and practice in science communication. It will explore ways to build capacity for and foster the use of evidence-based strategies for engaging the public with science and ensuring its appropriate use.”
The Paincloud Convention had a brilliant line-up with both international and national speakers. One of the biggest changes made for the second Paincloud Convention was having invited speakers like Silje Endresen Reme, who is a psychologist and researcher, and Joletta Belton who gave the persistent pain patient's perspective. This gave different perspectives on pain and pain management. The convention was also moved from Lillestrøm to the heart of Oslo.
“The evolutionary dynamics of complex human diseases pose unique challenges, such as predicting how therapy alters the evolution of an HIV infection, or how chemotherapy changes a solid tumor’s cellular diversity and aggressiveness. Using experimental, computational and mathematical tools, we seek for patterns and mechanisms that govern the course of disease, before, during and after treatment. Measuring and understanding diversity of microbes and cells, e.g. during viral infections or during cancer progression, have proven to be important for predicting disease evolution. With this workshop we will bring together leading experts from both virus evolution and cancer evolution to talk about recent theoretical, clinical an experimental advances to understanding cellular diversity and evolution. We hope to inspire and facilitate a discourse that can lead to new perspectives and research avenues.”
“More than 30 world leaders, 50 ministers, and 50 international organisations gathered together with scientists, private sector, civil society, and youth representatives, and over 18,500 registered participants at the online Climate Adaptation Summit 2021, hosted by the Netherlands.”
The San Diego Pain Summit is on a mission to change how pain is managed and treated in the healthcare industry by organizing conferences and workshops where clinicians can learn up to date pain education and research. The Summit also includes voices representing the patient’s lived experience, which is an integral part of creating person centered care.
